Pokémon Shield is Game Freak’s eighth-generation Pokémon RPG, set in the Galar region — a land inspired by the United Kingdom, dotted with Victorian towns, industrial cities, and the wide-open Wild Area. As a young trainer endorsed for the Gym Challenge, you travel across Galar to collect eight Gym Badges and compete in the Champion Cup, with the dream of facing the undefeated Champion Leon.
The classic Pokémon formula is here in full: catch, train, and battle your way through turn-based encounters while building a balanced team. What sets Shield apart is scale — Dynamax and Gigantamax battles turn stadiums into spectacles, co-op Max Raid Battles add a social layer, and the Wild Area gives you freedom no earlier Pokémon game offered. After the credits, the Expansion Pass adds two new adventures, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, each with new areas, rivals, and legendary Pokémon to chase.
Become the Champion of Galar — Dynamax your team and conquer the Wild Area in Pokémon Shield.
