Pikmin 4 is Nintendo’s charming real-time strategy adventure that drops you onto the mysterious planet PNF-404 as the Rescue Corps’ newest rookie. With a fully customizable captain and Oatchi, a loyal space dog who can carry heavy loads, sniff out hidden treasures and ferry your squad across water, you set out to find the missing Captain Olimar — and quickly discover the whole Rescue Corps needs saving too.
The heart of the game is its tiny plant-like Pikmin, each color with its own strengths: Red Pikmin shrug off fire, Blue Pikmin swim with ease, and Yellow Pikmin fly high while conducting electricity. You grow your army from pellets and fallen creatures, then direct them with a whistle and a well-aimed throw to haul treasures, smash obstacles and overwhelm the planet’s native wildlife. A new day-night cycle adds real pressure — night expeditions send you out after dark to defend glowing Lumiknolls from feral nocturnal creatures.
Gameplay Overview
The campaign spans a full rescue story packed with caves to explore, Dandori battles — timed treasure-collecting duels that test your multitasking — and a side mode where you relive Olimar’s original crash landing. Pikmin 4 is the most newcomer-friendly entry yet: you can rewind time after mistakes, the camera pulls back for a better view of the field, and Oatchi’s upgrades, from dash attacks to swimming, give veterans new tools for efficient speedruns.
Command a growing Pikmin army with Oatchi at your side — the most welcoming and content-packed rescue mission in the series.
